This Vegan Sloppy Joe Dip is the perfect party or game day appetizer. This is comfort food at its finest – delicious, simple and a crowd pleaser!

O-M-G this Vegan Sloppy Joe Dip NEEDS to be added to your next party menu! It is simple to make, super comforting and can feed a crowd. Ready in 35 minutes and served with toasted baguette slices, this is game day food at its finest! You need to try it – even your non-vegan friends will love it.
Step One: Brown the “Beef”
For this recipe I used Impossible ground beef. I think the texture and flavor work really well. But, I know everyone doesn’t love vegan meat, so you could always sub cooked lentils.
Heat some oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the Impossible “beef” & dry seasonings and break apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for a couple minutes, or until browned. Add a diced bell pepper, onion, garlic & flour and cook down for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

TIP: The flour will help thicken the dip!
Step Two: Build the Dip
Pour in a can of green chiles, fire-roasted tomatoes, soy sauce & broth. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring every couple minutes.
This dip isn’t overly thick, which I like. It has a little bit of a soupy consistency – perfect for the bread to soak up!

Step Three: Assemble & Broil
Once the dip has simmered and thickened up slightly, add in some vegan cream cheese and mix until combined.
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and top with the crumbled feta – the feta is optional, but totally delicious! Place the dip in the oven under the broiler for 3-5 minutes, or until the feta is melted.

TO MAKE AHEAD OF TIME: This can be made ahead of time. Complete the steps up until broiling. Allow to cool completely, cover and place in the fridge. To reheat, place in the oven at 375 (covered) for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and broil for a few more minutes.
Step Four: Serve
Pull the dip out of the oven, top with fresh parsley and serve it up. I served mine with toasted baguette slices, but you could also serve with tortilla chips, corn chips, soft pretzel bites…lots of options.

I really hope you try this one out! It will fulfill any comfort food craving – and there are few veggies in there too 😉

Could TVP be substituted for the Impossible “meat”?
I haven’t tried it so I can’t say for sure. If it were me I would go with soy vegan beef crumbles or cooked lentils. But if you try TVP out with this let us know how it goes!
