here’s what you need
ingredients
- pizza dough
- shredded dairy-free mozzarella
- heirloom tomato
- fresh basil
- grated vegan parmesan
- agave – or sub maple syrup
- red pepper flakes
- apple cider vinegar
equipment
You will need a sauce pan and a baking sheet.
steps
step 1: prep
Since we are using a pre-made dough, the first thing you want to do is let it come to room temperature – that way you will be able to stretch it out.
Add some oil to the pizza dough and place in a bowl for at least 30 minutes – or until it comes to room temperature.
step 2: make the hot agave
Making hot agave at home is seriously so simple!

Just add agave and red pepper flakes to a sauce pan. Simmer on low for 10 minutes, then strain out the red pepper flakes.
Add some apple cider vinegar and stir. That’s it!

step 3: bake & eat
Stretch out the dough and place it on the baking sheet. Top with the cheese and then layer on the heirloom tomato slices. Sprinkle on some vegan parmesan and add a few basil leaves. Place in the oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the dough is crispy and the cheese is melted.

Remove from the oven. Drizzle on as much of the the hot agave as you’d like and sprinkle with more vegan parmesan & basil. Slice and serve!
This pizza is restaurant-worthy but made at home in an hour. It is a crowd pleaser you’ll want to make for all of your friends!

tips & tricks
To make the hot agave even hotter, you can skip straining the red pepper flakes and leave them in the agave.
You probably won’t use all of the hot agave. You can store any leftovers in a container in the fridge.
