If you follow me over on Instagram, then you’re already familiar with my Friday Favorites. I will share anything I’m loving – fashion, beauty, books, recipes, home decor. Basically anything and everything I’ve been using and loving lately.
I wanted to expand this to a monthly round-up to share here on TSV. So, if you don’t follow me on Instagram (totally ok, but I’d love to have you over there too 🤗) you can get a peek into some things I’ve been loving and sharing.
Home
I am constantly making small tweaks and additions to my home decor. I love a neutral palette and then adding pops of color depending on my mood and the season. This yellow half moon rug was a new purchase – needed a little more color in my life.
Many of you know I am a dog mom to two large pups. As much as I try to keep them off my couch, I just can’t say no to their cute faces. So I have been loving this white blanket to keep on the couch as the “dog blanket” I wash it at least twice a week and it is still holding up really well. And it keeps the neutral look I like while still being functional.
I love the idea of being “that person” who wakes up, turns on an oil diffuser and then meditates. The reality is I’m usually rushed into walking the dogs and putting away dishes from the day before. BUT, I have found that this gold oil diffuser has made its way into my daily routine. It’s so pretty and there are a bunch of different colors to change the light to. A small bit of tranquility in the morning 😂.
Fashion
When it comes to clothes, I’m typically in yoga pants or jeans. And when this whole “mom jean” style became popular I was sure there was no way I’d find a pair that fit me right. They seemed like they were made for women without hips, and that definitely isn’t me. But I finally found the perfect pair and have been wearing them non-stop! They are wide enough in the hips and small enough in the waist.
I recently re-started my hot Yoga studio monthly pass. Getting back into working out was easier said than done, but I’m loving being back in a class atmosphere. And these sports bras have been my FAVORITE for the last year. They are such good quality and give you support without strapping you in. And while I love these for regular hot yoga, I do need a more athletic sports bra when doing a sculpt calls – so keep that in mind. These are for lower intensity classes.
And last on my clothing list is another denim find. These high-waisted jean shorts are perfect if you want a longer short that can also be cuffed. I will usually leave them long if I’m just hanging around the house and cuff them for a cuter going out look.
Kitchen
When it comes to kitchen items I am always a sucker for new bowls and cups. My bowl collection is a little crazy at this point. But I picked up these super cute ramen bowls this month and I’m obsessed! They are big enough to hold a good bowl of ramen, but affordable as well! I also got these gold-rimmed glasses that are gorgeous! They are a thick glass – which is something I need, since I’m notorious for breaking pretty much every glass I’ve ever owned.
Now, while this next item isn’t new to me, I thought I’d add in a kitchen essential that I love. And for me, it is my food processor. I would 100% recommend getting a nice food processor OVER a nice blender any day of the week. I use mine daily and it is holding up extremely well 3 years later. A really great investment item for your kitchen.
I love a reusable straw and this neutral set I found totally fits my aesthetic. Making a coffee in those gold-rimmed cups with one of these straws just makes my morning that much better.
A couple smaller items I picked up are these white-tipped wooden kitchen utensils and a set of new Turkish hand towels.
Vegan Beauty
Over the last few years my skincare routine has been alllllll over the place – the joys of being in your 30’s. But I have finally found a routine that has consistently been working and these are some of my favorite products.
The Summer Fridays line is one of my favorites. The products are simple, but effective. Lately I have been loving their Vitamin C serum in the morning and their face oil at night. These two products have easily been great additions to my face routine.
The other thing I make sure to put on every morning is a good sunscreen. This matte sunscreen from Supergoop is great if you have oily skin and hate the greasy feeling of most face sunscreens.
TSV Recipes
When it comes to recipes I’m loving, I’m still slightly stuck between light and fresh recipes for Spring and cozy, comforting recipes of Winter. Like, it’s still cold enough to turn on the oven, but somedays I also just want a salad.
When it comes to salads, this Southwest Roasted Cabbage Wedge Salad has easily become one of TSV’s most popular. You get the warm cabbage mixed with fresh veggies, soyrizo and a creamy dressing.
I also LOVE a good dumpling. And if you’ve never made them at home, then you need to try these Mushroom & Cabbage Dumplings! Even if you think you’re not a mushroom fan, you won’t even know they’re in there. You’ll just taste all the dumpling goodness – and that spicy dipping sauce!
And the last thing I have really been loving is TOFU! I know, how “vegan” of me 😂 But I’ve really been experimenting with tofu and especially love it in nugget form. Be sure to check out my Spicy Popcorn Tofu Nuggets or Lemon Pepper Tofu Nuggets.
Books
I am usually reading 2-3 books at once. I like to have at least one fiction and one non-fiction book in the rotation and then the third will be some sort of daily read (short, reflective). Here’s what was on my coffee table this month:
Mya Turned 12
As I mentioned, I have two pups and this month we celebrated my little chocolate muffin (aka Mya) turning 12!!! I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old, so we’ve really grown up together. I had hoped for a beach birthday, but of course, it was the one day it actually rained in San Diego. Instead we played fetch outside (in between the rain) and ate LOTS of doggie-friendly cake and cookies from a local dog store.
Pinterest Inspo
One thing I always share in my Friday Favorites are Pins from my home dream board. Home decor and renovations are one of my favorite things to look at online – especially a good before and after. I also love fun tile ideas. I go crazy over spanish-style houses. And a plant-filled home is definitely my thing. Here are some of this month’s favorites.
