Instructions

  • Combine the corn starch and dry seasonings in a shallow bowl and mix. Dredge each piece of tofu in the corn starch mixture and set aside.
  • Add enough oil to a skillet to coat the bottom and heat over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu and cook until browned on both sides (working in batches if needed). Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel lined plate to allow excess oil to drain.
  • While the tofu is cooking add the slaw mix, jalapeño & green onion to a bowl. Drizzle over as much of the dressing as you want and add vinegar to taste. Toss until coated and set aside.
  • Drizzle as much of the buffalo sauce over the tofu as you'd like (see notes).
  • To assemble, add 2 blocks of tofu to each roll. Top with the slaw, a little more creamy dill dressing and cilantro. Slice in half and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don't have a Trader Joe's all of the ingredients can be subbed with something from your local store except for the dressing. I would use my vegan Caesar dressing recipe instead!
  • Super firm tofu (also called “high protein tofu”) does not need to be pressed because it is so dense. If you use firm or extra firm tofu instead, you will want to thoroughly drain & press it before cooking it.
  • I like to toast the bread in the oven under the broiler.
  • When adding buffalo sauce to the tofu, you can either add the tofu blocks to a bowl, pour over the buffalo sauce and toss OR just drizzle some buffalo sauce over the blocks while they are resting on the plate.
